Jesus told stories. To His disciples, His followers, to the Pharisees and Sadducees. To anyone who had ears to hear, Christ would speak the truth of God through parables. His stories, differing from old guys telling tales, always had deeper meaning and truth to be conveyed. Over the next eight weeks, we will dive into a handful of red-letter parables spoken by Jesus to the multitudes. From houses built on sand to men dying of thirst in hell, we will study stories Christ used to illustrate the spiritual truths underlying His life, death, and resurrection on earth.
We are going to dig deep and wide to find answers and meaning within scripture over the next eight weeks. For each parable, we will read the full account in each Gospel in which it appears. While seemingly repetitive, if God deemed the story worthy of multiple tellings from multiple authors, then by golly we are going to read each and every word and mine the truth within! This study will also use the Hebrew and Greek definitions of words to further enlighten, illustrate, and identify the deeper, spiritual meaning of each parable.
