According to the Bible, Truth exists.
We can’t escape the truth. Even someone who says, “There is no truth!” is making a truth claim about the world. They are saying that “there is no truth”…is a true statement. (Which, of course, is a lie.)
As Christians, we must stand in defense of truth. Some things just are. The Bible makes a strong case that the truth exists. But even atheists and agnostics believe that truth exists—they just could not tell you why. Most people will tell you that there is such a thing as right and wrong—but if there is no such thing as truth, who measures the standard? If there is no truth, who decides? What good is a judge and jury if there is no such thing as absolutely innocent or absolutely guilty? These are the questions we are grappling with.
In today’s post-Christian culture, many people will argue against the existence of absolute truth. Increasingly, we are hearing the claim that we can have “our own truth.”
In the pages that follow, we will take a deep dive into the reasons why we can know what is true and how it should affect our everyday lives. If our faith is going to be a Faith That Speaks, we must be committed to speaking the truth in love, every chance we get.
